About the Nobel Laureates in this collectable set
The life of Nelson Mandela, featured on the 1/2oz platinum medallion, has been an inspiration throughout the world. In 1993 Nelson Mandela and FW de Klerk accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts in bringing democracy to South Africa.
Aung San Suu Kyi, featured on the 1oz silver medallion, symbolises the freedom struggle of Burma’s people. Her campaign for democracy led to her arrest and detention for 14 years. She was the world's only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize recipient until her release on 13 November 2010.
