This year the Kirstenbosch team have not had to worry about funding for the exhibit with the SA Gold Coin Exchange continuing as the major sponsor.

Over the past 36 years the SA exhibit has notched up 31 Gold medals, two Silver-Gilt medals and three Silver medals, as well as numerous other special awards for outstanding contributions, including the Lawrence Medal in 2006 for the ‘Best Exhibit shown to the Society’ in that year and was the first recipient of the new ‘President’s Most Creative Award’ in 2008.

The South African Gold Coin Exchange (SAGCE) on Wednesday presented a R33 000 cheque to the Chris Burger Petro Jackson Players Fund, which helps support rugby players who have sustained serious injuries.
The cheque was received by former Springbok Morné du Plessis, who is the fund’s Chairman.
